All about Avondale Nursery
Our Display & Show Gardens
The Avondale Nursery display garden is a hidden jewel in the county of Warwickshire. Laid out in a formal style for ease of access, the garden is bursting and brimming with perennials and ornamental grasses, which reach a crescendo of late summer colour and height.
Early summer sees a fine selection of geums, astrantias and geraniums. Be enthralled midsummer by Shasta daisies, euphorbias and poppies. Late summer boasts a firework display of heleniums, crocosmia, asters, sanguisorba and ornamental grasses.
Late September is particularly popular with visitors, as the collection of Aster nova-angliae is a sight to behold.
All plants are labelled in the garden, as it acts as our library, and most are available in the nursery. This is definitely a garden to visit more than once!
As well as being popular with garden societies, the gardens would be ideal for art classes.
Behind the display garden are four show gardens planted on the themes: shade, gravel, prairie & cottage, revealing the versatility of perennials.
On the same site is Russell’s quarry garden, which must surely rate amongst the most spectacular gardens in the country. A series of ponds, streams, and waterfalls combine with mature planting, to provide a stunning year-round display.
Group Bookings
The admission fee per person for either Avondale gardens or Russells quarry
garden is £2.50. If you are visiting both gardens the combined admission is £4.00.
