All about Avondale Nursery
Welcome to our catalogue for 2008!
This year there are over 250 additions, including lots of Sanguisorbas, even more Crocosmias and some exciting new Alstroemerias. Many of our plants can be seen in the display garden.
We're always looking for new and unusual plants and old varieties no longer widely available, not forgetting some better known old favourites essential to every gardener's palette.
Display Garden
The garden is maturing well, and over the winter months we have extended it to include four new smaller gardens to inspire you. The themes are: the Prairie Garden, the Cottage Garden, the Shade Garden, and the Gravel Garden. There should be some ideas for everyone to go home with! If you make a note of plants you like in the garden which aren't yet available in the nursery, we can send you a reminder next year. The garden is open several times during the year as part of the 'Yellow Book' National Garden Scheme, and in June there is a Sculpture Exhibition in our garden and at Russell's stunning Quarry Garden in aid of several charities. We're happy to open for visits from clubs and societies, and refreshments can be provided if needed.
Access
Follow signs from Russell's entrance straight to our own car park. We're now open every day from March to September, but please take note of our opening times, as we're closed for lunch!

10-12.30pm; 2-5pm Monday-Saturday.
10.30-12.30pm; 2-4.30pm Sunday.
Admission Charges
Avondale Nursery Display Garden: £2.50 per adult, refunded on purchase of plants. Open to visitors only when Brian and Steph are at the nursery. Mail Order
Unfortunately we don’t offer mail order, but we can take orders to plant fairs if they are closer to you than the nursery. Check the list of venues in the Events section of the website.
Availability
If you’re visiting the nursery for a particular plant, it’s advisable to phone or email beforehand to avoid disappointment, especially later in the season.
Advice
You can be sure of friendly help and advice at the nursery and Brian also offers a design consultancy service if required.
