Our nursery and display garden, situated just outside Coventry (directions here), is full of rare and unusual flowers and grasses. From spring until autumn there’s so much to see, with extensive collections of Geum, Geranium, Agapanthus, Eryngium and Helenium, to name but a few!
Check out our new Library Garden Tour!
We are now National Collection Holders for three plant families, Aster novae-angliae, Anemone nemorosa and Sanguisorba. Our Wood Anemones are stunning when the nursery opens in March. Our Sanguisorbas are in flower throughout the summer, and over 50 varieties of Michaelmas Daisies are on show in our display garden during Aster Week in September.
We are also celebrating 35 years of Plant Heritage National Collections with another Open Day for Sanguisorba in July. See our Events Page for details. Most plants in the collections are available to buy in the nursery, and our website includes a Collections Page packed with information and photos dedicated to all of our collections.
Visitors often use our garden like a reference book, as all of our plants are clearly labelled (Slideshow Here).
If you make a note of the plants you like which are not yet available in the nursery, we can send you a reminder next year along with our popular newsletter. Entrance is free, except on Charity Open Days and for group visits.
Over the winter months, we’ve divided or removed some of the plants that have grown too big for the garden, and there are always newcomers waiting to take their place! The wet weather last year certainly reduced visitor numbers, but most of the plants in the garden positively thrived in these conditions!
We’re happy to arrange visits for garden clubs and societies. These include an introductory chat, viewing the garden and the opportunity to ask questions about the plants. Teas, home-made cakes and light lunches are available at the Potting Shed Café.
Russell’s stunning Quarry Garden, on the same site, is also well worth a visit, especially in late spring, with a dazzling display of azaleas and rhododendrons.

This year we have seven brand new plants, all introduced by us and new to cultivation:- ‘Astrantias ‘Avondale’, ‘Can Candy’ and ‘Old Warwickshire Pink’, Crocosmia ‘Sherbert Orange’, Sanguisorba ‘Pink September’, Aster ‘Chilly Fingers’ and Euphorbia ‘Freckles’. Along with 300 other new additions, most plants in the Online Catalogue can be seen in our display garden.
Brian is well known for his enthusiastic talks on a variety of subjects, which he can customise for individual garden clubs or societies. Just ask at the nursery for details.
Many of the descriptions in our catalogue include advice about the ideal position for a plant. If you need further advice, please ask at the nursery, but contact us first to check if Brian is here in person! He can also offer a design consultancy service if required.
Unfortunately we don’t offer mail order, but we can take orders to plant fairs if they are closer to you than the nursery. Check the list of venues on our Events Page.
If you’re visiting the nursery for a particular plant, it’s advisable to contact us beforehand to avoid disappointment, especially later in the season.
