ANEMONE nemorosa
Our native wood anemone can be seen in the wild all over the country. It forms a carpet of starry white flowers in springtime, glowing in the dappled shade at the edge of woodland. As a bonus, there are many new colour and shape variations, many of them weird and wonderful, but often occurring naturally and spotted by keen collectors in many countries.
They will thrive in any shady spot. Their thin rhizomes spread through leaf mould just under the surface, and plants will colonise and propagate quite easily. Our collection of wood anemones are grown in containers, rather than in the garden, to stop rogue seedlings and to prevent varieties from running into one another.
Visitors can see them in flower from mid-March on display benches in front of our shop. If you want to start your own collection, most are for sale in smaller pots!
